This Privacy Policy explains how Meae Care ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your information when you use the MEAE application ("App") and related services (the "Service"). It is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and End User License Agreement. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

The Service is intended for individuals at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, contact us at support@meaecare.com and we will take steps to delete it.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account information — your name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you register by email or via Google or Apple sign-in.
• Health information you enter — medications and schedules, responses to health self-assessments (such as PHQ-9, CAGE, CAHPS, and social determinants of health questionnaires), and health documents or insurance information you upload.
• Communications — information you provide when you contact support or submit feedback.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage and activity data — in-app interactions, quests and activities completed, and feature usage, where you have enabled activity tracking.
• Device and technical data — device identifiers, app version, and diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the Service.
• Location data — approximate location, used only to provide weather-based wellness suggestions, and only when you grant location access.
• Push notification tokens — to deliver medication reminders and health check-in prompts.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its features;
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure;
• Deliver medication reminders, health check-in prompts, and service updates;
• Send transactional emails (e.g., account verification, password reset);
• Personalize your dashboard, including weather-based suggestions;
• Respond to your support requests and feedback;
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We process your health data solely to provide the Service to you, consistent with your in-app privacy preferences.

4. Your Privacy Controls

The App provides granular controls so you can decide what is collected and shared. Within Settings > Privacy Settings, you can adjust toggles for:

• Health data sharing;
• Activity tracking;
• Location access;
• Analytics.

You may change these preferences at any time. Disabling certain options may limit related features.

5. Anonymized Research

If you opt in to health data sharing, anonymized and de-identified health data may be used to improve the App and support health research. This data cannot reasonably be used to identify you. You may withdraw this consent at any time in your privacy settings.

6. How Your Information Is Stored

• Cloud storage. Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure (authentication, database, and storage), protected by access controls and encryption in transit.
• Local storage. Certain data may be stored locally on your device using SQLite to enable offline access. This data remains on your device and is removed when you delete the App or clear its data.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party providers. Your use of these services is also subject to their own privacy policies:

We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services. We do not sell your personal information.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal or health information. We share information only:

• With service providers (such as those listed above) acting on our behalf to operate the Service;
• In anonymized, de-identified form, where you have opted in to research;
• To comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable governmental requests;
• To protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Meae Care;
• In connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition), subject to this Policy.

9. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal health information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent. You can manage much of your data directly within the App, or contact us at support@meaecare.com to exercise these rights. You retain ownership of the personal health information you enter into the Service.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including through Google Firebase infrastructure. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
